Their cute appearance and gentle nature makes them incredibly popular by young and old alike.   Alpaca fibre is also highly sought-after because it is much softer than sheep’s wool.  Alpaca fibre is strong whilst being incredibly soft and lightweight and is recognized as one of the most luxurious fabrics in the world.  The warm, silky smooth and environmentally friendly fibre is increasingly popular and samples and products are now a key feature of the alpaca section.    So as you can see, the alpaca is a multipurpose addition to the smallholding or hobby farmer that just keeps on giving.  Equally, it is a fascinating addition to the Nelson A & P Show that attracts thousands of people each year who enjoy the animal, the fibre or the products.
